AI Transparency
1. How Elyvite uses artificial intelligence
Elyvite is an AI-assisted health research workspace for health professionals and others working professionally in health care.
We use artificial intelligence to make large volumes of professional information searchable and to prepare, structure, summarise, compare and translate content. AI also helps surface the connections between expert positions, scientific literature and other sources, and supports users in research and analysis.
Content generated or prepared with the help of AI may draw on statements by experts, scientific publications and other sources included in the platform.
Where technically and legally possible, Elyvite provides references to the underlying sources so that users can trace information and check it for themselves.
Elyvite does not carry out medical or scientific research of its own. AI-generated content is not new scientific knowledge in its own right and replaces neither the underlying original sources nor the professional assessment made by qualified users.
Content generated or prepared with the help of AI is labelled as such within the product.
Certain illustrative images and preview images may also have been created with the help of AI. They serve purely as visual illustration and are not to be read as medical or scientific depictions.
2. AI systems and models in use
Elyvite uses external AI services, language models and other technical systems from various providers, including OpenAI and Anthropic.
Different models or providers may be used depending on the feature. This lets us choose systems according to how well they suit research, structuring, analysis, summarising or translation.
The models and providers we use may change as Elyvite develops technically.
AI systems are used in particular for the following tasks:
- preparing, structuring and summarising content,
- comparing and contextualising different sources and statements,
- analysing where expert positions agree and differ,
- assigning content to topics,
- translating content,
- supporting research and analysis features,
- researching and contextualising scientific sources, and
- generating certain illustrative content.
3. Where the information comes from
Elyvite processes and structures information from a range of sources.
These may include publicly available expert content, scientific publications, research databases and other professionally relevant sources.
Where technically and legally possible, Elyvite provides references to the underlying sources so that users can trace statements and check them for themselves.
The fact that Elyvite includes or displays a source does not automatically mean that every statement it contains is accurate, complete or scientifically confirmed.
4. Expert opinion and scientific evidence
Expert opinion and scientific evidence are not the same thing.
Elyvite therefore aims to present different kinds of information transparently rather than as equivalent proof.
Experts may reach different assessments based on their experience, their reading of the available evidence or their professional perspective.
Scientific studies may likewise produce differing results or carry methodological limitations.
Elyvite is meant to make those differences visible and searchable, not to resolve them artificially.
5. Consensus and dissent
Certain Elyvite features analyse where selected experts hold similar or differing positions on a topic.
Such presentations relate to the content Elyvite has captured and taken into account for that particular analysis.
They do not state that all experts in a field, or the scientific community as a whole, share that position.
“Consensus” within Elyvite therefore means a recognisable agreement within the data set analysed, not automatically a scientific consensus.
Likewise, “dissent” or a difference shown simply means that differing positions were found within the content analysed.
6. Scientific sources
Elyvite can search and summarise scientific literature and relate it to expert statements or other sources.
A study that Elyvite finds or displays is not automatically proof that a statement is correct.
How much weight scientific literature carries depends on study design, quality, sample, methodology, reproducibility, how recent it is and the overall context of the available evidence.
Users should therefore consult the linked original sources and assess the scientific evidence professionally for themselves.
7. What Elyvite's AI is not meant to do
Elyvite is designed as a research and information tool for health professionals.
Elyvite's AI features are not intended to
- make diagnoses,
- suggest or confirm diagnoses for individuals,
- determine individual treatments or therapies,
- prescribe medication or other medical measures for individuals,
- replace medical professionals, or
- provide individual medical advice to patients.
Elyvite is not designed as a clinical decision support system or as an automated decision system for specific patient cases.
The information Elyvite provides must not be used unchecked as the sole basis for diagnostic, therapeutic or other clinical decisions.
8. Accuracy and limits of AI-generated content
Even capable generative AI systems can make mistakes.
AI-generated content may in particular:
- misinterpret information,
- overlook relevant information,
- oversimplify a matter,
- present connections inaccurately,
- attribute sources incorrectly,
- produce statements that the cited sources do not support, or do not fully support, or
- repeat outdated or contradictory information.
The underlying sources themselves may also be inaccurate, outdated, incomplete or open to different readings.
We are building technical and editorial processes to reduce such risks. They cannot be ruled out entirely.
To the extent permitted by law, Elyvite therefore gives no warranty that content generated or prepared with the help of AI is complete, accurate or up to date at all times.
AI-generated content is not to be understood as independent scientific research or as a substitute for the underlying original sources.
Users should in particular:
- check relevant statements against the original sources cited,
- assess scientific studies and other primary sources for themselves,
- treat AI-generated content as support for their research rather than a substitute for their own professional judgement, and
- not base medical or clinical decisions on Elyvite content alone.
9. No medical advice
Elyvite is a research and information tool.
Elyvite does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment and is not intended to replace the professional assessment of a specific patient or individual medical case.
The information provided does not replace the professional assessment of suitably qualified people.
Assessing and using the information professionally is the user's responsibility.
10. No personal patient data
Elyvite is not intended for processing personal health data about patients, clients or any other third party.
Please do not enter patient records, findings, lab values, diagnoses, medication data or other health information if it can be linked to an identified or identifiable person.
Research questions should be sufficiently anonymised and abstracted so that no patient, client or other person can be identified, directly or indirectly.
You will find more about this in our privacy policy.
11. Data processing in AI and research queries
When you use Elyvite's AI-assisted research features, the parts of your query needed to answer it and the context required for that may be transmitted to and processed by external AI, search, embedding or re-ranking services.
Which providers are involved depends on the feature in question.
We design the services and data flows we use to be as data-minimising as possible and limit what is transmitted to the content the respective feature needs.
You will find more about the service providers involved, the data processed, the purposes, legal bases, retention periods and possible transfers to third countries in our privacy policy.
12. Transparency and labelling
Elyvite labels content generated or prepared with the help of AI within the product.
This is intended to make it clear to users where artificial intelligence was involved in creating or preparing a piece of content.
The labelling complements the ability to view the underlying sources and, where the respective feature offers it, further information about where a piece of content comes from.
13. Transparency under the EU AI Act
For certain AI systems and AI-generated content, Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 (the “EU AI Act”) sets out transparency obligations.
Elyvite makes its use of artificial intelligence transparent to users.
Where relevant to the feature or the content in question, this includes:
- notices that users are interacting with an AI system,
- labelling of content generated or prepared with the help of AI,
- information about the use of external AI systems, and
- this AI transparency page with further information about how the AI works and where its limits lie.
Which EU AI Act requirements apply to a specific Elyvite feature depends above all on its technical design, how it works and what it is used for.
Elyvite keeps its AI features, labelling and transparency measures under continuous review against the legal requirements that apply.
14. Human oversight and responsibility
AI-generated results should not be treated as reliable simply because Elyvite has structured, summarised or compared them.
Elyvite is designed to make research more traceable by making the underlying sources and differing perspectives accessible where they are available.
AI is meant to support professional research, not to replace human responsibility.
Users remain responsible for consulting the relevant original sources, placing information in its professional context and making decisions on the basis of their own qualifications, experience and professional duties.
15. Ongoing development
AI technologies, the systems Elyvite uses and the legal requirements governing their use keep evolving.
We therefore review our AI systems, transparency measures and internal processes regularly and adapt them to technical, regulatory or product developments as needed.
